Mom holding toddler at Greenhouse Park during family session by Inclined Shutter
As a child, I could spend hours studying photographs, imagining the stories they held. That fascination never left me. I received my first DSLR in 2010, but it was in 2020—during the pandemic—that I truly began diving into portrait photography. What started as curiosity quickly became a passion, one that grew even deeper after my son was born. Portraits became more than images; they became a way to preserve connection, emotion, and legacy.
While Inclined Shutter is a newer business, I bring years of experience behind the camera and a deep commitment to creating meaningful, high-quality portraits.
The name Inclined Shutter comes from a place that has followed me my entire life: the Johnstown Inclined Plane. There’s an old family story about my first ride: I hid under a bench, crying hysterically, convinced my family, I was one of six wild and crazy kids, would be the ones to send it off the tracks. Halfway up, the fear faded. I peeked out… and fell in love.
I was terrified—and I went anyway.
It took me years to outgrow my fear of heights, but that ride became a quiet metaphor for my life: “feel the fear, and do it anyway”. Creating this business felt the same way. Scary. Exhilarating. Absolutely worth it.
I named Inclined Shutter in honor of my roots, my growth, and the stories that shape us—because that’s what I want to give you. Honest moments. Real connection. Images that feel like home when you return to them years from now.
I would love to help you capture and tell your story—one you’ll be able to look back on for years to come.
